Hi peeps, sorry for the delay but since my first post a lot has happened!! 88 Defender 110 now has 200 tdi engine in! yes we did it ourselves with a bit of help! since then ( all our own work).. new manual fuel pump, all clutch cylinders!! all ruddy pipes renewed with new clips, new shocks, new rear hub seals etc, new fuel tank sender! She ran beautifully for two weeks then head gasket went!!! aargh. Changed everything, followed the torque settings precisely, tried cranking three times but not firing? Help, are we being too impatient? She cranks but doesnt fire? worked from 7.30am to 9.30pm today (manifold was an arse pain) but run out of steam now. Any suggestions gratefully accepted:)

Have to say though that still think she is the best motor on the planet, just the worst woman(actaully nicknamed her the ex-wife!)

also make sure you have bled the coolant properly to avoid any over heating damage, esp in this heat! I have a 200tdi disco that is running perfectly but starts to overheat when going slow off road, so before it gets to the 3/4 bar I am using the heater and rests with the bonnet open in shady tree areas to cool it down.
