L322 Help! Self Level Inactive, Air Suspension Inactive, 35mph max, no lights on control switch

Hi Chaps,

Assistance please... I've had my 54 plate L322 for a couple of months, been sorting out a few preventative maintenance jobs while I've got some time on my hands. Jacked all four corners up to replace corroded brake pipes: put it in off road height to get the best access to remove the inner arch covers with the wheels on in case I decided to move it over a pit once I'd sussed the route of the pipes out, unplugged the fuse (57) for the air suspension in the glove box to stop it from throwing a wobbly and jacked it up.
Short version is, brakes done, wheels back on, fuse replaced, back on the ground, ignition on.... and I now have the following messages on the dash:

"Self Level suspension inactive"
"Air suspension inactive"
"Max speed 35 mph"
Also all of the lights have gone out on the ride height control switch.

I have tried:
1. Turning the steering full lock left and right (which has worked before when only the "air suspension inactive" fault was showing)
2. Hard reset on the battery (disconnect and touch opposing leads together)
3. Plugged two different diagnostic tools in (one Delphi professional system and one nondescript handheld, neither of which have specific land rover software), no fault codes showed up!?

I'm baffled... any suggestions from anyone who's experienced these faults before would be appreciated.

You need specific diag to reset it, it is in hard fault.
Nothing else will do it
Thanks for the reply, a pal of mine has a handheld that he bought specifically for resetting suspension faults on his L322 (I think it's an ICarsoft?) so hopefully that will do it. I'll keep you posted. Cheers.
 
Did you let the hubs hang whilst you had the wheels off? If you did the height sensors may have picked up some muck from a usually unused part of the sweep.+1on diagnostics.
I did yes, could be a factor, but they've all been jacked up at some point (separately) in the same way with no issues so the jury is out on that one.

I'm sure this has been done to death on here, but you chaps seem to know your way around things, are you able to recommend a suitable/favourite diagnostics tool with the amateur price tag in mind?

See if your mate can sort it with his, cheaper to borrow than buy.;):D

Have a look at the BMW Inpa software its a free download but you will need a cable, there a people who will supply cable and software for about £60, the only down side is its laptop based so not a shove in the glove box item but from what i have seam its very good and will code ecus and all sorts
 
All lights out is a Hard Fault and only diagnostics will help you see the fault and clear it out once rectified...as mentioned, it could be the fact the undercarriage was left dangling, they don't like that at times....sometimes you can get away with it other times they throw a hissy fit.

Diagnostics, iCarsoft will do it, INPS is an OK shout if you get the correct cable and the right .inf file for the L322.
 
Double check none of the height sensors reversed them selves if you let the wheels hang
Good shout on that one Dave, I never would have spotted that had you not mentioned it! Indeed when I checked one of the ride height sensors was arse-about-face.

Rectified that and the self-level and 35mph max faults on the dash have disappeared. Did another hard reset on the battery and after reconnecting and leaving overnight the lights have come back on on the ride height controls, drove it home and the suspension dropped back to normal ride height (as opposed to off-road height) and appears to be level. Sadly it looks like I still need the right diagnostics to clear the remaining "Air suspension Inactive" fault as the ride height control is now locked in normal height and refuses to unlock, but I'd say that was progress at least. Thanks for your help chaps, now I just have to wait for my mate to come and clear the last fault and hopefully normal service will be resumed.

... As is the nature of these ever-reliable machines, it's now decided to start guffing out a cloud of blue-grey smoke on startup which is new :rolleyes:... I suspect PCV valve diaphragm from what I've read so far, fingers crossed a new one sorts it out and I wont have to dig any deeper!
