Help please. Steaming problem

its not scoring you need to worry abart but warping. and i don't meaning going fast in the enterprise either.
get a straight edge and make sure both the head and the block surfaces are flat and level, across the width and down the length of them
 
Every thing checked out ok. Problem im havin is with nm and lb/ft torque settings. Does anyone have the settings for the head bolts and the rocker shaft 1/2" bolts please as my old copy of the manual has some of the pages ripped and dirty etc, preferably in Nm as my torque wrench is a bit strange.

Thanks ATO. I found the converter earlier but at nearly 90nm i might struggle with my little torque wrench. Still 90Nm seems high on 3/4 or 19mm bolts hope they take it ok

Thanks looks the same as the one Ive got but am missing most of that page. Or its covered in sh1t. Back to it and try for 88 NM tomorrow thanks again.
 
BOLLOCKS snapped a bolt IN the head 22Nm and the fuc!!er still snapped at least its only 1/2" anf bolt but they cost like a pound to replace so am now redoing the lot. The bolt and one other looked as if the threads had stretched and thinned out but am not sure if they used stretch bolts on landys, especially SIII. Oh well the snapped off bit came out with mole grips luckily just another delay in putting her back together as no one locally stocks ANF bolts anymore. Cant see whynot though!!!!
 
Started her up today first time and so happy had to smile. Tappets rattling a bit though so maybe I misadjusted something. Still it will run me to work for the next couple of days.

Does anyone know about 2 pipes on the head, one is a small copper pipe that runs back to the fuel pump from the carb I think, and the other is on the back of the head running out of a banjo connection. Just wondered what they are for,
 
The first one sounds like the Vacuum advance pipe (Carb to Dissey) you want to connect this one if you want your landy to run right.
The second one sounds like the oil supply pipe to the head, You REALLY want to connect this one or your valve gear will run dry and F*** up.
Ps this may explain your rattling tappets.
 
Ok so for the oil supply pipe does the banjo connection have to point against the tread any particular way or do you just screw this back in, They are both connected up anyway but something is definately rattly and there also seems to be a lack of power on the ills.

thanks I had the right part part in place and its still running ok ish even after 2 days running it to work and back so it must just be the tappets rattling.
