Hiya,

Im trying to find out the history on my old land rover series 1. it says body type= Mobile plant? what does that mean? also how would i know if my series 1 was in the military? it has military headlights, but i wouldnt know what a military number looks like, if it has one stampped on the car somewhere?

You have a rare one there. Produced by Land Rover The Mobile plant would have had a PTO driven generator/ark welder mounted in the back. There may be some holes for mounting points there.
Some pics would be nice.
Look up the Series One club for more info.

Looks like a 1950-54 model as head lamps no longer behind grill and side lamps [where your indicators are now] having moved from being on the bulkhead. Only 113 of these mobile plant types were made, Check out Dunsfold Collection for more info.

That may be an age related plate…
Is it a KVS xxx ?
Look on o/s chassis leg for a brass plate. Some time they are there from military use

Hiya, yes reg is KVS 766. People have said to me it could of been in the military, however there I can't find any military number on the chassis? Is there any other place I could check?

It's 1958. 88 inch diesel. :)

Who knows with Land-Rover, all sorts of odd things have turned up over the years.
There is a military Land Rover in the Dunsfold collection has the same head lamps as yours.

Ours had a brass plate on the chassis leg & when we chemical treated the doors we found the invicta motif on it.
Any extra lights on the back or wiring?
Some times the log book gives it away, look at year of registration see if it matches year of manufacture.

And the number plate is non transferable
