I bought a 90 chassis with running gear ect
When the v5 came through it says it’s a 1976 88”
It measures 92” not 88”
I’ve half built the 90 and the book took aged to come
Is there anything I can do
I don’t want to loose my 90 cos it’s registered as a 88

You've got an 88 not a 90, you cant change the v5 so build the 88 mot & tax exempt as long as you stick within the rules.

Thought of doing that but I don’t have 88” chassis it’s a 90 chassis
So think the 88” is useless now
I’d rather try complete the 90 build

Does the chassis you have have a chassis number?

If it does, I assume it's not going to match the v5.

In which case you have two separate things - a 90 with no v5 and an 88 and with no physical parts.

If, and I suspect this is unlikely, the chassis number does match the V5 that you have, there's probably further "work" to be done, but my bet is that the numbers do not match.

Sadly, I think you have been sold something with an inaccurate description.

I agree the vin on chassis matches v5 so basically it looks like I’ve gotta sell as off roader proper been duped

Why don't you contact the person who stitched you up?
What did the advert say?
Did it say Land Rover 90 with V5, if so then false advertisements, mind you not sure where you would actually stand legally.

Small claims court (MCOL). You'd win no problem. If they don't pay you can ask the court to enforce the judgement.
They'll definitely end up paying.

So the chassis has a chassis number on it and that matches the v5? Something is properly amiss if that is the case. is the chassis number itself authentic, has it been hand stamped or that part welded onto the chassis?

If you have a chassis number on the chassis that does not match the v5 you can apply for the correct v5 based on that chassis number (as long as not scrapped or owned by someone else), and then continue with your build once you have a v5.

What is the rest of the description for the vehicle on the v5, type, engine size, etc?

An attempt at taking the ID of the 88 to save on VED by the previous owner. But did you buy it as a 90 or a series 3? Have you got the details of the seller to pursue a claim?
