My car is L-series tractor

Normally the trouble is getting them into reverse!

Has the gear linkage come loose?

bet there was a good bit of oil ont ground after that bunch moved - have you damaged or bent the linkage ?

Gear linkage is a possibility but could be the sector forks, which has been known.
