the wire has probably broke or come off ,you will more than likely need a new one ebay springs to mind , get a complete one as just buying the wires does not always work and can be awkward to fit

i have power to the rear window switch . has anyone got a bit of a wiring diagram which shows which wires in the block work which part of the window (up/down) so i can try the motor direct through the block .

It's not an electrical wire at fault, it's likely the steel cable that connects the window to the motor pulley. It's a common problem.
I use a dry silicone spray to ease window drag. I'm not this helps the drive cable last longer.

If you shut it completely then you won't be able to open the rear door. Just put a bit of tape or somthing over it for now untill you fix it

Think it's the rear passenger door side window not the tailgate Kizzeh!
Try opening the door and grabbing the window between your flat hands and lifting it. If it moves great, it may stay up if not you need to strip the door card off and use a bit of wood to prp it up. You may need to loosen the clamps if the mechanism has jammed.

thanks zdomz took the door cad off the window wont lift up so i think like you say its stuck . ill order new regulator as i can feel the motor click when i press the switch .

got it thank a 10mm bolt . was a pain to get to . got the regulator out stripped it the motor worked ok until i greased it put it back together and put it in the car seems it only has enough grunt in the motor to take the window so far up . i managed to get the window closed and disconnected the motor . i will order new regulator tomorrow .
