Hi will be ordering a genuine Crankshaft position sensor as I fitted a cheap £28.00 interpart one and have been told after speaking to a guy tonight they simply don’t work with the signals back and forth to the ecm also on my list is as you say a code reader the code reader I have for some reason will not configure to the defender regards

Yes, I've had that. Mine has been disabled more than once as a result of wiring loom problems. Intermittent faults that are hard to diagnose. The symptoms above are a bit like what I had when I first bought it, which turned out to be a fault in the wiring between the accelerator pedal and the ECU. The engine kept going into limp mode and not responding to the accelerator. I was assured by people in the know that it was the accelerator potentiometer or the fuel pump, but both of these turned out to be fine. Sometime in the mid 2000s Land Rover must have had a batch of wire with very brittle conductors and crisp, friable insulation. Following a particularly prolonged and baffling failure at he end of 2014 I now have an aftermarket loom (the main one, not just the injector loom) and it is much better. It feels very different too - the wires are all soft and supple. A look at the data from the various accelerator inputs with a diagnostic device will show whether the feed from the accelerator pedal is being seen by the ECU.

Hello Mr Fanatic, it's a pleasure to see you back. How's it all going?

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure you're being a great comfort to everyone.
I'm having fun playing with a piece of land in Wales I bought, planting trees and getting it ready for a spot of smallholding when I retire. I seem to remember you were looking at derelict houses a while ago. Did any of that come to fruition?
