Im pressure testing it at weekend. So might give me some ideas. It's either that or liners have dropped. Although no signs of major trouble as starts first time. Ticks over perfectly and never runs rough. Also no signs of probe on the plugs. Which confuses me

Had same prob with 2000 1.8 k series with 26000 on clock flrsh back in 2006. Does it have oil in header if so. Had head off, new gasket.
Sorry everything seemed fine with cylinder liners. Had it to main dealer liners had moved slightly.Required fresh engine. Sorted prob for 6000 miles low load miles then same again. Good old k series.

Update time. spent another day. Looking at the good old freelander. Checked water pump and no problems. Seemed fine when the engine was turned over by hand. Also pressure tested the cylinders. No problems there all bang on the money. Then spoke to a friend. Local mechanic (very good) he told me it needs a new radiator as you cant unblock them properly . As this had happened to him many of time b4. New rad fitted. But the problem is still there. Still filling and overfilling the expansion chamber. I'm now completely stuck for ideas.
