My Mrs is expecting our 5th child in May. We've got 4 already (derr) and the oldest is 5. Relevance of telling you this? Well, I'm running out of space.

I've got a 110 3.5 v8 CSW. As you know, it's got two rows of 3 seats and then the two bench seats in the LB.

At the moment, the seating arrangement is as follows, with c=child seat, me=me (driver) and SWMBO=boss:

Front (l to r): C, SWMBO (squeezed in), Me
Rear: C, C (ratchet strapped down because of location), C

Bench seats: free

I don't want to get rid of the landy for a people carrier because I love my car. I use it for green laning and have just done an off-road day at Thruxton. Plus, the wife loves it too.

We need another single seat that can also accomodate a seat belt. I've seen those fold-away seats that some people have in their load bay, but:

1) how expensive are they?
2) how easy is it to DIY something like that?
3) is it possible/will I need to remove a bench seat?
4) any other recommendations?

Finally, I've stumbled across this: 4 Child Car Seat - Child Car Seats

which could fit across the rear and solve all issues, but it's £1300

Any ideas very welcome. I was kind of hoping to do it as a project between now and May (operation: anti-SMax)

Thanks folks

Put the kids in the back!

I think trakkers do forward facing seats for the load area - £200 (I think) - which accomodate baby seats.

The missus (SWMBO) said the Thruxton experience was great!! Hopefully, I think she was refering to the driving!

I believe that exmoor trim do the only approved seat suitable for taking a baby seat, this will fit in the rear after taking out one of the bench seats.
there forward facing, foldable but lock in place and have a 3 point belt... sounds great but ....... there around the £500 mark

£500?

Crikey, i'll have a look but it will be a quick glance.

Nobody done a DIY?

Looks more and more like i'll have to fork out :/

Keep one child in the cellar for a number of years but remember to claim child allowances. Do this before school age to avoid sudden disappearance arousing suspicion. Tell friends you sold one to Madonna.

Yeah, I don't know how it keeps happening. The eldest three look just like the milkman, too :(

I had 11 kids in the rear a couple of weeks ago. No wait, I had 11 children bouncing around on my seat...there were 11 children in the load bay of the landy. Not sure what the rules are with seatbelts, or lack of with bench seats but they had a blast in the 'soldier car' for a few miles down country lanes.

Docca, fit some seat belts in the back to use with the benches. Put the baby seats on the second row seats. Then get the snip........
