L322 Help I think I've bought myself a bag of trouble :(

New battery fitted this morning

Fitted the biggest battery I could get in the gap

And unfortunately that hasn't worked in fact I think it's made it worse,

It now chucks up limited gears every time I kick down

So what's next?

I a man so hoping that's it's not the gearbox

What your thoughts guys?

What diagnostics kit is your mate using? Is it LR specific?

He's using a snap on, also had it read by an AA tech that was at euros who was there by chance

Both saying the can bus is chucking gearbox errors galore

Nothing is talking to each other

I'm thinking take it to a RR specialist to plug it in

Might be worth checking out @Saint.V8 threads for his L322. He had some canbus issues. Think his ABS ECU got cooked and caused a heap of trouble or maybe a headlight bulb blew and scrambled something? Maybe both?

I've tagged him so if he's around he'll respond. He's got a drive full of landies and a house full of women (might be a correlation there) so his hands are full!

@Saint.V8 is a very busy guy, with his real life. Give him a chance to respond to the tag, it has only been an hour and a half!!!
Whilst we all understand that when an issue arises, it is REALLY urgent to the person goi g through it. We also have to understand that the rest of the world is dealing with their own lives and own sh1t. So go have a coffee, play with the dog, walk the kids, and come back later. By then someone may have responded.
At least on here answers are usually quite quick. Some sites you can wait for days.

Addit: You could also try doing as @Grrrrrr suggested. Use the search bar and look for the posts by Ant , on his Canbus issues

I know nothing about Rangies per se but from Recovery experience regarding auto gearboxes....have you checked the gearbox oil level? Have known that to cause intermittent faults until a certain level is reached and then 1st gear only...until......

Got to be worth a check at least.

Silly question, did you fully charge the new battery overnight? If not then I'd do that. Even if you think the alternator has had a decent amount of time to charge it

Is the L322 modern enough to have a 'smart' charging system that needs to be told when a new battery is added and how many aH it is?

Our 2009 1 series has to have a new battery coded to the car so a possibility

No I didn't, will put it on now
Didn't realise they didn't come fully charged

It's booked back in Tuesday so will ask them to check if it's a difficult to do

Depends whether it's been sitting on the shelf for a month or 3 and whether the shop has properly maintained their stock.
