Hi I'm new to the forum and I have just bought a freelander1.8 petrol please help . It was stood for a year I put new battery on took it for mot and it passed . Now the problem it just turns over and won't fire if I unplug fuel cut off switch it starts then dies plug it in fires up and then I'm off . I have gave it full service new leads cap rotor and replaced coolant temp sensor also hand a land rover specialist reset all adaptions still no luck any ideas thank yoU

When I unplug it it fires up then once it used the fuel cuts out then when I plug it back in it fires up runs rough for 10 seconds or so then ok if I don't in plug it it just turns over tried to fire but it won't

I still can't understand what you do to the impact switch to make it start. However I think it's likely to be the fuel pump or its relay. The pump assembly also contains the fuel filter, which when clogged, over works the pump.
That could account for the poor fuel economy.

Sounds more like it I was thinking roughly £30 should do 120ish miles . I think engine timing maybe out that's all I can think off now am going out new belt on tom if not raining
