help freelander 2 steering problem

hi we have a freelander 2 ,2006 we bought almost 1 year ago we had a years warranty on it and now we have a problem the steering seems to lock , we have it booked in but not untill next monday surely it would be dangerous to wait another week, or is this a simple problem anyone else had this its the hse model

sounds like a pump problem, have there been other symptons, noisy perhaps or jerky.

There was a common fault on them where welding spatter on the inside of the rack would come free and block the filter, the main stealers would change the filter and all would be okay until the pump/rack fails.
Main stealers will charge approx £1500 to fix although i'd push them as it was a known fault.
