By the way, have you had any experience of the auto-box being reluctant to change up to 4th?

Brian,

I have to say I havent experienced that....yet! But to be honest if your not sure there is only one solution and that is to perform a testbook and see if any gearbox faults show up.

I know mine did (although LR didnt reset the fault logs so teh old ones STILL showed up later on! Great one guys!).

I suggest you locate a LR specialist in your area and ask if they can perform testbooks on RR's. If they are good they should be able to do so very easily.

The dilemma is that if you leave the gearbox and put it out of your mind it may turn out to be a huge costly mistake.

Of course if its just your paranoia speaking it will cost you a small testbook fee.

If it were me, I'd bring it in for a test....

Also, whilst your there havign the TB done, have your RF receiver ordered and fitted too.....

Hi again.
Mine doesnt change till it gets to 45-50 either.(if your reading Yella i just couldnt say it.)

Cheers, Nick.

Thanks guys for the info. I would book it in but M$ kinda non existent this month so to the back of my mind it goes.

Nick, glad yours is reluctant too! - sorry

Its not reluctant. If it changed i think it would be in the wrong gear. Taking it out tomorrow after it's fuel pump change so i will see what it does.

Cheers,Nick.

Look forward Nick.

Well this is one weird day.
Logged in and guess what Nick? You seem to have my avatar!!! - Hope my pc isnt playing up

Anyway, went out to the ole Rangy to go shopping. BL**dy thing would not start!
This time there was no power drain, no false alarm triggers like it did before.. Tried the EKA code the car unlocked ok after remote locking. But engine ust cranks..

Previously, the indie RR guy (Dunsford -BAth) who very kindly called with the laptop on the way to work, said the codes had got confused and sorted that . I've since used the car once too, no problems.

So does anyone think replacing the RF unit will do any good? As I have zero money at the moment its a mute point! 'cause it will have to sit there unitl I do!

Sh*t why do theses things happen when you have empty pockets!

Hi
Any where between 40 - 50 But no sooner. Trouble is with these is that the computer does'nt seem to know, i've had my fuel pump replaced because the plug-in kept coming up with low fuel pressure and its no different, all in all that would have just cost me the galvo'd boat trailer i was going to buy, not a happy bunny. The boys said i dont have to pay until it's sorted as they are pretty embarrassed about it so that help's.
Is there anyone with a receiver you could borrow and try ?

Cheers nick.

Brian,

Firstly, it WILL do you a lot of good changing the RF receiver. It will transform the reliability of your RR....mine did!

At this point nobody really knows what actually happens in the original RF receiver when it stops playing ball. People have given different theories, one of which is that the part is simply defective listening and interpreting any old RF signal which in turn tries to work out if it’s a RR fob. It then, this is just one theory mind, that after receiving over 100 signals even though it isn’t a RR fob, it then thinks it’s being attacked and locks out.

As you know each time you press your RR key fob it changes the algorithm up to a maximum of 100. After 100 goes that’s it! You didn’t get it right thanks for playing….

Thanks Guys,

Just have to sell my body (not the rangy thats too valuable) on the street corner to save up for the RF unit.

Trouble is it could take a while as we live out in the sticks!

Let you know how I get on.

ps don't suppose its worth trying one from a breaker? - too risky I guess as you can't tell if its any better than the original.

The problem is that all RF receivers are not marked with a product/model number according to LR.....which is very bad production/part control and manufacturing in my eyes.

Therefore, if you bought one from a breaker, you have no idea which version you have just paid for. Remember there are 3 of them and more importantly you have a one in three chance of getting the right one and whats even worse is that most P38 owners dont even know that their RR's RF receiver should be replaced so that probablity is extremely high that you will simply get an old one again.

OK thanks Adam. I thought it was a bum idea. I'm now convinced of it.
'fraid the landy will just have to sit quiet for a few weeks.

many thanks for your support

Brian

Have you checked it though, the vehicle doesn't need to move for it to trip accidentally. the fuel pump wont work if its tripped.

I had this happen to me on a Jag and it took ages before I tumbled what had happened, and it was a simple battery change that started the problem.
