Help discovery 3 is like a Xmas tree

Hi land rover discovery 3 started off with a park break fault light, then transmission fault and now ABS and HDC fault, now an airbag light is on. I've changed park break switch, I've bought a new battery and had alternator checked. I don't even know where to start and don't want to spend a fortune eliminating everything. The handbrake assist does not work either Can anyone help?

There’s a cheap scanner called an Autel AP200 , want the white one , u will then at least have a better idea according to what fault codes u have

plus regardless of having a new battery plse ensure it’s fully charged as one that’s low can cause havoc on the system

Thanks will have a look I've had codes read at a garage and there was literally over 2 pages do wouldn't know where to start. I'm just going to buy all new land rover bulbs and replace them all. I'm reading loads of threads and it says it can be simple things so trying the cheapest fixes first.

ur so welcome and is also so nice with u saying thank u, it’s appreciated , ur be surprised where some don’t bother

have u got a print out or a list of the codes plse , if so if u would be so kind to put them here some of the codes may stand out for us

ref code readers , its best to have ur own, as with codes ur first read them, write all of them down, then clear everything and do a rescan to see what codes come back, as codes may be old historic ones from another fault which can throw u down the wrong path

that’s why it’s so important to have ur own , saving u a fortune along with the convenience as u could be on holiday or out somewhere , due to the complexity of these vehicles in all honesty having a scanner is a vital part of ur tool kit

it’s also very important with new batteries to give them a full charge overnight , another great tool to have is a multimeter , as u can perform very simple but vital tests

so personally would first sit in the drivers seat and get someone to check all ur lights , then buy ur own scanner and cheap multimeter

Personally wouldn't bother buying any bulbs etc as of yet until we know more on the codes

Multiple fault codes will probably have something in common - quite often the battery being fubar, or a faulty power or ground common to the afflicted electronics ... :rolleyes:

A new battery is next to a waste of time if it is flat, so, as above, charge it up !

shucks ur make me blush, lol, thank u for such a kind compliment , for me I found being on the tools I learnt alot more instead of trying to read books etc , lol, know theres others who are also extremely knowledgeable

Funny enough I see those scanners are getting really popular now , still very impressed with the gap iid

So long as bulbs have a makers name you recognise Ring/Lucas etc then they will be just fine.
I have had my brake light bulbs blow a few times and guess what? no issues at all.

Remember like many modern cars ign on but engine not running and you will have 30 to 60 mins before bat voltage is to low.

How did they check the alternator? do you own a voltmeter?

It's not that I'm not making progress every garage I call to fit a new clutch say they won't do land rover discovery's I got my new electric car last week so just want rid of it my insurance ended in October so I'm paying temporary insurance at a cost of £200 a month

You could try Gumtree listing it as "spares or repair" I sold a wreck of a Mk2 Mini that way. Peeps were climbing over each other to offer me money.

You will find most non specialist garages do not want to touch any old land rovers, never mind discos.
