We have a Discovery 1 300 TDI 1996 Automatic and when driving at slow speed, ie stuck in traffic/crawling, the vehicle has developed a problem where it jerks forwards and makes a noise. This doesn’t happen when driving normally at a higher speed and not stopping/starting. Any suggestions/advice please as to what the problem may be? Thank you.

What kinda noise? Whirr, clunk, hum, squeak, bang? And how abruptly does it lurch forward?

Hi. Thanks for getting in touch. It's not a harsh or big move forward and a sort of soft clunck noise. No whirring, squeaking or bang. Hard to describe exactly, sorry.

@JuJoe - Welcome Aboard :)

Now, regarding your issue - this is the intro section, where you tell us a bit about yourself and your LR, and thus we get an idea of how much mechanical knowledge or sympathy you may ( or may not :eek: ) have :) ...

Some piccies always help too. :)

Your issue could be something as daft as low oil level in the AT, or it could be a propshaft UJ about to die ... or perhaps one of a million other things ..... but is probably something very simple ....:)

So, what have you checked thus far ? - possibly better to do a bit of an intro and start a new thread in the disco section, and go from there.... :)
