Hello my names patrick im thinking about buying a landrover soon and have come to wear your patience thin with my questions!

A Defender will keep you happy, where others fail.

Yep but not all that comfortable, disco's are a bit better, and best to stick with diesel. If its a defender dont get the non-turbo one, flat as a pancake.

And dont buy a freelander/gaylander/hippo, coz they are trouble.

But welcome anyway at the minute.

A diesel freelander will give you less trouble than a disco or defender in the same price bracket. Defenders rust, discos rust then rust again and then rust some more.
An L-series freelander has a perkins prima based engine that is fecking bombproof. Keep an eye on the VCU to preserve the drivetrain and enjoy rust free reliable motoring. They are not for serious off-roading though.

none yet,but just abotu got enough funds so im affter advice!

Be sure to make your own decision, alot of people here hate freelanders and most of them have never had one, or they were dumb enough to buy a petrol one and have never got over it.
I would rather have a defender than a disco. But a good defender is very expensive and they get nicked.

thanks for all your advice.
in reply to the last post i have about £4,500 to spend.

I'm a mechanic aswel and to be honest, I havent come across a job yet thats really that bad, and the parts are fairly cheap, but avoid some of the aftermarket stuff, like some of the britpart stuff. For that kind of money you could get a decent one, disco or defender, but try them both out first.
