Hello everyone.

Just bought me first Landy (a Discovery 1 3 door 200TDI) so thought i'd better join a forum .......... here looks as good a place as any :D

My Disco is very rotten and is in the process of being nursed back to health with the aid of spanners, socket set and a MIG welder

Just ordered £330 worth of new panels for the rear end  from a well known online supplier.

Reasons for buying a Discovery???? ...................

I have 4 children so a 6 or 7 seater vehicle is a must.

I have previously enjoyed offroading with a friend and his Defender.

I like the look of the Disco

It was the only thing available within budget when our old car went BANG!!

£500 for a Discovery with a couple of months T&T and full service history isn't too bad really is it

Let me know if a thread detailing the repairs is required and i'll get cracking

Welcome to the funny farm. Doesn't sound too much to pay. Ask your questions, be prepared to have the proverbial taken out of you but rest assured, what you get told will help on way or another.

Yeah welcome to mad hooooouse. Disco ~not a bad bus.
If you are off roading often then move the tow bar up or off. They have a habit of hitting steps when off roading/green laning which causes your back step to push up and catch your back door which inevitably starts to break up. If you are going through water regulary dont forget to put your gear box plug in underneath and remove it when finnished playing. Silt and gear boxes tend to clash. If you know all this already~then i'll shut up. Good luck.

Thanks for the warm welcome

Might modify the towbar so that it's quick release as removing it isn't really an option due to family camping trips with a trailor

Just bought a pair of wading plugs for the g/box and timing cover ...... cheapest mod so far at £2.95 from fleabay

The door bell hasn't stopped ringing all day with deliveries ......... it's like christmas has come early :D

Tarantula steering bars and steering damper relocation kit, sheet metal folder and all the above mentioned panels arrived too :D ...... all i'm waiting for now is the pair of diff guards

A good mate has given me 2 8x4 sheets of steel (1 galvanised) for the welding work thats to be carried on with tomorrow
