I want to buy my first proper Land Rover. What is the best buy for a £6K (ish) budget, for local use, trips to the tip and for my 18 year old son to drive?

I got a Tratter in the summer coz I've wanted one for decades and I love her, but maybe they're not for everyone.. For the money you're talking I've since seen some very decent (and much younger) Discos and no doubt good Freelies can be had too.
There are far more seasoned owners out there who will give you solid advice I'm sure. Hope you enjoy your chosen LR as much as the rest of us.

You want to get yourself a series for that money. If your boy can drive that he'll be fine driving anything. Fun to work on together when it breaks down too.
