Hi everyone,
I'm now the owner of an ex-military 1967 88” 2A barn find. The vehicle was parked under partial cover on the farm approximately 7 - 8 years ago and became the new home for the farmyard mice, so not much left of the seats or wiring! The radiator and carburettor had been removed to replace faulty items on another 2A that is kept at the farm and the bulkhead needs some work, although the chassis is good and the engine turns over with good compression.
My current job is removing all the electrics and making a copy of the loom before I attempt to get it started to see if everything works ok before I continue with the restoration.
Yes it came with all three, happy days!
The landy come with registration plates, V5 Logbook and a military contract plate.
On the 24th January 1967 it went into service with 45 (Essex) Sig Regt (TA) and then on 31st March 1967 it was transferred to HQ Squ 36 Sig Regt (V) and eventually ended service on 3rd March 1987.
I'm not sure of it's military use, because although serving with the Signal Regt the plate on the rear states 12V Neg Earth and there is no evidence of it ever being 24V.
Cheers,
Jon
