Hello,
My name is Adam and I am very very new at being a Land Rover owner.
I have a 1996 Disco and it keeps popping the fuses for the fuel shut off switch/Heater plugs and some thing else that makes a noise when you turn on the Ignition switch.
There's a little black box on the side of the injector pump that makes a rapid ticking nose. This also runs off of the same fuse as the Fuel Shut-off switch and Heater plugs. I'm not sure what it is though.
My problem is this, when ever I switch the ignition on this box starts rapidly tick, almost like it's pulsating. Now, as soon as I turn the engine over a couple of turns, it pops the fuse under the dashboard.
It's really giving me a head-ache. Because, I just can't work out what is causing the fuse to blow like that. I have taken the lead off of the heater plugs and I know it's not them. I have taken the lead off the fuel shut-off switch on the injector pump, it's not that. I can't even by-pass it what ever it is.
Can any-one help with this problem? If it's a common problem, how can I rectify it so as not to be a constant problem all the time?
The first time it happened I was on the M25 and it just died on me. I put a new fuse in and carried on. It happened again a few days ago, now it just won't do anything without popping the Fuse all the time.
ARRRRGH!!!!!!!!!
Please help me. I need to go to work.
