hello new to all this

question.... been to the lakes did 600 mile round trip 320 of that was towing.(1500kg caravan)

the average mpg was 16.2 worked out on paper is that about right ??? for a 2.5td auto the temp was down to -2 some days not had it long just seeing if there anything wrong.

thanks

Ryan smith

Seeing as most of that would be motorway a little on the low side, would expect around 20+ mpg average. What did it say on the trip computer?

19.9 is more what you would expect. Are you saying you used 168 or so litres of fuel to get the 16.2? 19.9 would be around 137 litres used.

168 sounds about right....

25

n i got about a 1/4 left.

Yeah thats about right. Just depends how much running around up hill down dale you did, speeds at or below 30 stop start or driving below torque lockup at 50 mph towing will kill the fuel consumption on them.

its the lake district so.... the roads are 15% 20% 25% 2 of them are 30% and the a66 aint level ;)

do u think i should remove the EGR ?

n get the ecu remapped ?

I assume that the engine is getting up to temperature and that it doesn't have an untimed hot start fix? I averaged over 20mpg towing a 1.3 tonne caravan in the Pennines with my DHSE.

-2 will mean more fuel used anyway. Performance will increase mpg decrease. Colder denser air. Engine will work harder to maintain a good effcient warm temp to.

Couple that with the winter diesel at the pumps.

You could do a few things yourself, clean the intercooler out, change the air filter, clean out the EGR valve, blocking it or removing it won't make a lot of difference. Have the pump timing checked, have the injectors serviced. But you can buy a lot of diesel for the £400.00 or so that will cost. Rechipping generally will not give you better fuel consumption that is a fallacy.

when i got it had a leak on one of the injectors...... n this as nothing to do with ote but the gear stick was ever so stiff.... seems ok now after 2000 miles i do like the car... just work way thur its points....

here a pic dont want people thinkin its a shed its ok for £800
