:D:D hello everyone, just joined this great forum!:) I don't have a land rover as of yet:doh:, but I have joined for advice and chat etc. I really wanted a defender but, after lusting after one for many years, have realised after trying one at work,im to big to drive one:eek: 6.5" and 22 stone .so have decided I want a discovery now.which to be honest is probably a better car for me. so I know very little about them. Ive restored a few cars in the past .so welding/mechanics are not a problem . im am not interested in the new discovery, mainly the earlier 200/300 tdis or possibly a td5? heard so many stories etc don't know what to believe. my budget is very tight. im not frightened of rough cars as if its cheaper, its easier to afford.then don't mind spending money later.i don't want a mint car or a show winner. just a usable motor. advice needed :D

:welcome2: to looneyzone.
Don't know much about discos but i can tell you that defenders aren't made for big peeps , i'm a mere girly and i must say my td5 is none too roomy even for me! I expect that the TD5 disco will have dearer parts than a 200/300tdi so if you're gonna be putting it through it's off road paces , you may find that the latter is cheaper to maintain ...get yourself into the disco section and i'm sure the lovely folk there will give you all the pro's and cons.

ewwww,get you with your advice.true though.well done muds.:D:bolt:

You really need to get a D1 i have had 3 in the past few years the 200 and the 300 but to be fair i like the 300 better i have a 300tdi one at the moment and it goes great guns off road plus there is room for family to come along to :)
By the way welcome

thanks for comments, I really do fancy a d1,but the price variations are crazy! ive seen loads of 300tdis at £1000 ish but then looked at a v reg 4.0v8 auto with lpg very clean for only £1400!!! I think I prefer the earlier ones

You might have to watch out for the old tin worm a bit more on the earlier ones. WELCOME! from a biased D2 owner. :)

Mine's got less electronic **** to worry about: no ACE, no air suspension....I wish it had a centre diff lock, but I guess if I throw money at a kit then it will have :)

Diff.
