Hello
Thought it time to introduce myself after lurking a little while. I am the proud recent buyer of a 1991 Range Rover Classic 3.9 Vogue. I've always had a soft spot for the shape of the Classic since my family had one in the late 70s early 80s
Up to now, I've stuck with German cars (boo hiss) but hankering after a real off roader and because my daily driver is an x5 (even bigger boos and hisses) this seemed like the perfect way to kill many birds with one stone. She is my tow / off road / recovery / family day out / backup transport car. That's how I justified it to the Mrs. anyhow
This is what she looks like.

In decent shape for year, good chassis, 170k miles!, needs some body welding in the rear arches. Has already had floors replaced both sides and boot.
Rock and tree sliders welded in place, 3" lift and , most importantly, a working LPG conversion.
Those with a keen eye will have noticed that the PO fitted a Discovery 1 bumper which I don't think looks too bad. Will probably need to replace this though along with more aggressive tyres for any more serious off roading.
This is what I bought her to do (remarkably capable even on well worn road tyres!)

Now I suppose I'd better come clean. I've been chasing a few problems on this car in the last few days, one of which seems to be developing nicely into a "bit of more than you can chew" scenario. Somewhat surprisingly, given the pictures above, It's not do do with wet electrics, but more about that in the v8 section. In the spirit of good forum etiquette, thought I should make introductions first. Is 5 minutes an acceptable time to wait to ask the forum for techincal help? ;-)
