I am new to the forum scene but not to Land Rovers.

I am coming back into the fold so to speak, by giving up on biking and deciding to build a 200tdi Discovery based 100" Hybrid.

Not exactly novel I know, but it is my ideal considering how much my 'perfect' choice would cost these days!

So come autumn I will start looking for the donor disco for my build and of course will be heavily reliant on this forum for advice and tips.

:welcome2: to the forum :D

can you explain what your hybrid idea is coz my disco has a 200tdi and a 100" wheelbase as standard.

Hello and thanks for the welcome!

It is because the disco has, as does the rangey, a 100" wheel-base that I have chosen it for my build!

The idea is to get the cheapest of the 3 formats, the disco, as an MOT failure, then lose the shell sold for spares and recycle the money into buying Land Rover 110" defender bodywork.

I will clarify later as to what I suspect I must do concerning a modification of the chassis over-hang, but basically all the front, seat-box, bulkhead, cab and the like will go on pretty much as is.

I do believe I have to chop off the disco chassis end member and weld on a defender one, then marry up the tub to fit, after a particular set of trimming and fitting mods.

Anyway, time and good advice will get me to where I want to be!

Andreas

p.s. I will be wanting to trim and fit a hard-top with side-opening rear door as well!
