Hi all,

Looking at buying my first landy tomorrow, a 1989 110 2.4 TD. Going to be trading my insignia in but I'm a bit apprehensive about it. It has been my ambition to own one since passing my test, so I was wondering if anybody can tell me what they are like to live with, with a small family in tow? What pitfalls should I look out for? I know the TD engine isn't especially known for its reliability and this one has 110,000 miles clocked but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks all.

The engine will be a 2.5TD unless someone has put an early Rangerover 2.4 vm diesel in it.
If the car is original it will be slow, cold and draughty. The 2.5TD is a fairly quiet engine though.
You may love it, but I got fed up with almost no heating, a misted up screen, and the leaky door seal making my bum even colder on the way to work in the morning.
Discoverys are much nicer to live with.
Looking at your location it would be worth you joining the Southampton and district (SAD) landrover club.

Thanks for the replies.
Got to the dealership today and they had sold it on Thursday, but didn't tell me when I phoned up yesterday :( so wasted my time. So decided to test drive a couple of newer trucks that I had no intention of buying. Still on the lookout though and this site has already given me loads of things to look out for.

Will look into that, thanks for the tip.
