Hello together,
my name is Werner and I live in the northwest of germany, 50km to the netherlands/off the north shore. I was looking for a facelift freelander 2 for a couple of month and finally, last week I got one. I was looking for a car with some offroad capabilities, but with some comfort for longer journeys, too. So I get a TD4 XS, modell year 2015 according to the VIN, 123000km on the counter. Unfortunately the car was located nearby Stuttgart in the south, so after a 7h hours travel by train I had a ride back that took almost 8 hours. But, it was definitely a extended test ride and the car made it successful to my home. I'm excited to join this great family and it's big data and experience source.
I like to do some upgrades and self maintenance and I think for this, here is the right place to be.
Lots of greetings, Werner.

Welcome Werner. The vehicle looks in good condition from the photos.
Yes indeed, thats why I took that long journey to buy it. The inside looks awesome for a 6 year old car. At the outside are some little things, just figured out, that one door lock is not working. Wasn’t funny for the neighbours when the alarm started after midnight, I came home, locked the doors with the fob and tried to open the door Two days later, first time offroad, I recognized an odd sound, first thought was, it´s from the turbo, but I can only hear it in the 1st gear until it changes to 2nd. I think its not from a damaged hose, because I don‘t have a lack of power.
Maybe it will be a good idea to do a all around service for trans, diff and haldex. The car has run 123000km now, motor oil was changed last week before I bought it. I made a short video, maybe somebody here has idea. The video sound isn’t very loud, so you have to tune up your speakers.

Change the haldex oil every 20k miles. Change the haldex filter every 40k miles. That's what seasoned Freelander 2 owners do to keep their Freelander 2's running in good condition. If it were my vehicle I would change all oils: engine, gearbox, transfer box, haldex and rear diff. And the engine coolant.
