Hello all

My name is Ben and I am an Englishman living in Spain.

I wouldn't say I was new to land rover, but I never owned one, though hopefully within the next two months I shall have my first.

I joined this site for the usual reasons; a good introduction to the world of landy ownwership, purchase and technical help, and general time-passing chit chat...

I shall soon be moving onto a farm on the Island of Mallorca (where I have lived for the past 4 years) and will need a strong, basic vehicle to do the daily trips and to work hard on the farm, principally lugging building materials, and maybe a spot of mowing...

I am currently researching availability of ex UK military LHD 90s and a heavy duty trailer (sankey type), which seem to be the ideal equipment for my needs (though there don't appear to be many available right now. Any owners out there? For sure we shall cross paths over time.

FYI I am engineering trained and currently work the the motion picture business as Grip.

Kind regards

Ben

Living with the missus in Puerto Andratx, soon to move to s'Arracò (with the missus).

Are there good contacts in BCN (apart frrom your good self) for landrover sales, parts and off-road fun?

I'm still looking for mine, see.

Pricy is the problem Ben the money they want always seems too much to me..ive have been toying with the idea of getting a RHD and converting it, but again dont know how much work would be involved, Defenders over here are silly money even Series landies are holding big bucks.
You could have a general squint on segundomano.es they cover all areas of Spain, and might give you a few ideas.
And if you do need any help up this end just let me know and i will see what help i can give or get for you.

I'm going to look at something tomorrow hopefully. Ex mili 3 litre LWB with no registration... I'm really after a SWB, so this is just a practice viewing. 3000euros + registration!

It is a Spanish LWB lightweight hardtop, 24volts and really solid chassis and bulkhead, with new new new 3000 6 cyl diesel (apparently less than 100km, and looks like it). It needs a lot of love though, and the registration is going to cost 1500 euros. Sadly I think its going to be too big and too expensive for my requirements.... shame.
