Hi, I learned to drive at the tender age of 10 in a field in my mum's rotten old 2a. Driven a few over the years but never owned one.
Having tired of the ever increasing complexity of modern vehicles and the lack of documentation for all this new proprietary tech I have decided to go back to the iron age.
I have bought a well fettled, galv chassied, 200tdi'd, defender axled, 109. It's done 4k miles since it's overhaul 10 years ago. It's genuinely the best landrover I've ever driven.
I don't mind the bouncy stiff suspension, the noise, the smell, the tractor engine or the random switches that have been wired in over the years. I don't miss electric windows, fancy stereos, traction control, and all the refinements that we are told are absolutely necessary. I do miss a comfy seat, I may reupholster the defender seat to make it a little less ****.
