Just posting to say hello to you all from Cornwall. My pride and joy is a 1994 Discovery that left the factory as a V8 but somewhere in its lifetime someone fitted a 200TDi and what can only be described as a well used R380 gearbox.
It's an early 1994, meaning it's a 200TDi model with the earlier dash and yet it has 300TDi headlamps that seem to be factory fitted! I'm think factory bolted in whatever they liked during this year!
The glow plugs have no wiring, the immobiliser or the ignition switch has a mind of its own, the transfer box lever requires all the muscle power I can muster to make it move, the reversing light switch needs replacing but I have yet to require the double jointedness to reach it, it smokes upon start up when the weather is cold, the clutch release bearing rattles, the clutch pedal is lower than the brake pedal, the headlights turn themselves on and off, the coolant has found its own level in the header tank however much water I put in it, the diffs whine, the gearbox clunks, the body lists to one side, the exhaust is a one piece affair completely welded together from front to back with various sizes of pipe... BUT... I love it!!
I've managed to locate the earlier 1989-1994 owner, parts & workshop manuals in PDF format so I'm currently spending my time reading through them in the hope that I'll be able to make this vehicle my own.
