Hi all.

I hope that everyone is getting over the Xmas eatathon!

I need some help finding a good Landy garage in the Bath area to do some minor fixes and mods.

Any recommendations as so far I’m not getting much back.

Welcome to LZ! :)

Landrovers have been around for over 70 years, and come in a wide variety of variants.
And LZ is a widely spread international forum, so not many members are likely to know what goes on in the Bath area.

You are more likely to get a result with that if you post in one of the vehicle specific areas of the forum, or in the South West regional section.

Hi and welcome!

I use JC 4x4 near Thornbury who are very good. Two others who I have heard good reports about are Broadlane Land Rovers in Warminster and Steve Hill Land Rovers in Bristol. The latter two I haven’t used though.

Hello all

I've had a shocker!!!

It tunrs out that my crew cab is a Leight Commercial Vehicle and now I have to pay £9 per day to drop the kids at school!

In Bath all commercial vehicles, with a EUR 5 engine or older, have to pay a clean air zone fee, private vehicles are excempt.

The council won't hear that its a private vehicle and the DVLA won't change the vehicle type. Anyone got the slightest idea how to get around this? Experiencing the same issue?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, move out of Bath. I've only been to Bath a couple of times, although it seems a very nice place, it is clear from the lack of parking that the council have an anti-car policy.

Welcome to Landyzone.

How far to the school...and what age the kids?
Under 2 miles - let them walk.
1-4 miles - buy them bikes
2-5 miles - bus
Over 5 miles - change your number plates :p

Or...move house :D

Have you thought of the following and will this get you past the problem?
Converting a vehicle into a motor caravan (motor home)

There’s been quite a lot of discussion on FB about both the Bath and Birmingham clean air zones. My 90, with side windows, is classed as a utility vehicle so gets hit too. Needless to say, I’ll be visiting Bath a lot less. Birmingham I don’t go to anyway.

Didn’t realize bath had done that and I’m 6 miles away! Haven’t been in since pre covid and don’t drive in anyways. One tends to be pished when one is in bath.
In regards to your specialist - broad lane Land Rover. Sh1t hot

Same in London, except more expensive. You need to get a compliant car, or use public transport.

Will be here in all urban areas within the next 5 years. If you need to go into Large Towns, compliant car, public transport, or pay the charge are the only ways to go.
