Hello All

Just bought my first Landy, a 1985 90, 2.25 Petrol and it survived the 526 mile journey from Sussex to Scotland. Seem to be spending a lot of time here and on Rimmer Bros and John Craddock sites so thought it was about time I joined up!

Nice vehicle! :cool: And should be quite good if it has made that trip without incident! :)

You're right, my spine was in agony and I broke the journey for a night in a hotel!

Underneath is very good apparently, with just one small weld needed in the battery compartment. Need to get it blasted underneath and am considering waxoyl thereafter, but struggling to find a recommended garage in the central belt to do it - I don't have the suitable space to do it myself (or the time to be honest).

Have had all the fluids replaced and a new battery as the old one was draining very fast and I was bored of jumping it already. Also new choke as the old one was snapped, as well as other sundry bits and bobs and it's running well.

Window seals need replacing all round and just been researching that and need to friend a willing friend to help especially with windscreen due to weight of it.

So far, loving it!

Regular breaks for a walk about on long journeys! ;) Thirty years of driving them has knacked my lower back completely :(

Look at Dinitrol products as an alternative to Waxoyl, and whatever you use, make sure the inside gets at least as much attention as the outside!

You can usually push the screen out with your feet if you sit in the front, get an assistant to take the screen as it comes out. They are a fairly easy screen to get in and out! :)
 
Hey! Welcome to the forum. Good to see an older landy bought. Curious its a 90 with a petrol 2 1/4 engine? They're all diesel engines? Is it a retro fit? If looking for places in c Scotchland try Strathern Engineering at Auchterarder , they do all body work, landy specialist.Also try GEMM at Larbert or Alex Lindsay at Broxburn. GEMM great for secondhand spares. Happy chugging.

What is it with Landy's in Sussex, that is where I just got mine from too! 430mile trip back to West Lakes,was definitely worth the drive though, hope yours is too :)

I know you'll kill me for saying it, but Nene Overland back down South are renowned for their Waxoyl skills :D

Other excellent underbody services are also available! ;)

No personal experience, I do that sort of thing myself, but IIRC there have been some dissatisfied customers too.

Ninetys also came with petrol engines, the first ones had 2 1/4, then they went to 2.5 petrol. Some had v8s too :D

I was doubting myself there, but Turboman has it right I think - it's a pretty early 90 which explains the unusual engine, or so I understand it.

FMog - I'd have loved to only be going as far as the West Lakes! Final schlep up the M74 and across nearly finished me off!

Pleased to say that I was pootling around in it over the weekend and the work done last week seems to have ironed out the worst of the gripes.

I came across Quothquan Workshops near Biggar online - anyone used them or heard of them? They've not responded to my message yet.
