Hi everyone,
Just got me my first Land Rover. An Epsom Green Discovery 2 TD5 ES from 2000. Got it as a non-starter that had not ran since 4 years as a bit of a gamble. But it had a reasonable service history. £1000, 150K miles. Got it running now. It was a fairly simple ground issue that was tripping up the immobilizer. Changed the alternator bracket which was cracked, and fixed an SRS warning lamp which turned out to be the LH pre-tensioner under seat connector. Now I'm taking care of some well needed basic maintenance starting with cardan shaft rebuilds.
The car needs a fair bit of work, but it has reasonably good bones. It has some rust issues at the back of the RH door sill and at the footwells, but nothing that can't be fixed! Although, I'm currently struggling to find a replacement front bumper.
I'm fairly experienced working on cars, but this is my first time wrenching a Land Rover and they seem a bit quirky, indeed! I'm currently living in Sweden. Previously London, Oxfordshire, and Hampshire.
