Hello all!
I'll keep it brief as I'm not too sure how this type of request will sit with some fans of the Defender and also whether this is the appropriate area to be asking this question.
I've just got out of a MY14 Range Rover Sport (it just wasn't me......plus the build quality was pretty woeful for a £65k car, etc.......)
Anyway. I'd now like to be true to myself and get something that suits me better. This being a Defender. I've never owned one before but have owned and driven loads of cars over the years.
I realise that the build and comfort on these cars can't be expected to be comparable to my ex-RRS - but that's not what I'm looking for.

So here's the question(s): I'm quite taken by what Urban Truck are producing and I'm contemplating going for a 90 SW in Corris. It'll probably be their off the peg base 90 GREY - URBAN TRUCK ......as I simply can't justify spending any more on what essentially is still just a Defender.

Have any of you had any personal experience of owning or driving any of these UT cars?

What's the general consensus about these 'ready-modded. Defenders...? (I am starting to wonder whether I could do the mods on this model myself and save a fortune....?)

This is going to cost me £37k (+++ by the time I finish with my options).........am I mad...!!??

Any info or feedback would be very much appreciated, so thanks in advance! :)

Fooking doolally. £37k for that heap of tat. why not buy a 90 in corris grey and get local autoelectrician fit all the parts If that's what floats ya boat. probably save £5k.

And if build quality is an issue, stay the fook away from defenders... they're ****e...

Yep agree with what everyone else says.

Buy a standard one then upgrade/modify it yourself

1k ish for a new set of wheels
KBX upgrades will cost you about £350, the grilles just screw off and on
£300 for the headlight upgrades you'd probably want the angel eye ones
Go to Alive for a tune, basic one for a 2.2tdci is about £700

then you can give the remaining 10k to me, thanks!

I'm a huge LR nut, hence being on here in the first place. A D90 was my first vehicle. But I'll be honest and say, you'd be better off buying one of these:

Sadly Jeep UK is a tad rubbish at offering the full range that you get in the USA or even the rest of Europe.

But you get a choice of a 200hp diesel or a 285hp petrol. Plus all the bits on the inside that you'd want.

The Wrangler will do everything the Defender will and more. And better off road too.

If you want the V6 or a Rubicon, you'll probably have to speak to them. I think they do a custom order section if you want something extra. But even the base model is supremely brilliant.

Remember the Wrangler is also a ladder chassis, live axle proper 4x4. Only it was a clean sheet design in 2005 and is superior to the Defender in every measurable way.

Don't think you can get a V8 in the UK, not unless you mod it, or import it.

That said, even the diesel with 200hp beats any Defender, even remapped ones. And the V6 with it's direct injection 3.6 and 285hp is genuinely rapid for a 'proper' off roader.

If you go for a Rubicon, you not only get TCS, but standard front and rear lockers, electronically detachable anti roll bars (you just push a button on the dash) and an ultra low, low range.

Roof is 3 piece removable or there's an optional soft top. The doors are removable too (they lift off) and you can even fold the windscreen down.
