Hello there, I'm not currently a Landy owner but am looking to change my car in the next 12 months, I do my research and procrastinate about the benefits of one against the other so yes, it does take me a while :p anyway, I've always fancied a Landy so they're on my list to research.

I'm disabled so driving automatics is preferable and that usually make my choices a tad more difficult.

Enough waffle, I'm off for a look around :)

The freelander 1 is quite a low seat if you have troulbe getting in and out, forget the defender its high and akward.
so I guess its a disco if your not that restricted . Welcome to this mad community enjoy your research .

Hi, good luck on the research, and I must agree with defender300td1 as too a defender being orkward and there's not a lot of room in the cab compared to a freelander or a disco but I would seriously recommend looking at a p38 ranger rover as the air suspension makes them lower to get into and the auto model's are good, hope this may help a bit :)

Cheers folks, I've always fancied a defender (90) until I sat in one at work and discovered that due to the lack of cabin space and the cramped driving position there's no way.

Freelander is the right sort of size whereas a disco or a RR is too big.

My my you've been looking in the right places then .
We used to take my girls mother to hospital and the freelander was purrrrfect ;) give one a try but please speak to the boys in the freelander section on what to look out for :)

Hi there! you'll find all the info you need on here man, seriously a wealth of knowledge... I have a 90 and am 6'3" and it only really gets uncomfortable after long journeys, but that's me... cant really comment on freelanders as I've never even been in one!!

Welcome.

As a blue badge holder myself, I've found the Disco to be all I want, I can cock my left leg in and then push up with my right leg on the side step to finish the entry process; it doesn't sound that elegant, but it works for me. Fortunately I can still use the clutch and a manual gearbox. The main thing for me is that it's high enough so that when I get out I'm upright before I hit the ground.

The guy living across the road from me lost his left leg below the knee in a motor cycle accident and he has no trouble getting in and out of his Disco too, either with or without his prosthetic.

I had always wanted a Landy but also wanted some more comfort than on offer from a Defender, the doors fall off the Freelander (the Land Rover wannabe) if you get it wet and I couldn't afford a Rangie so I settled for the Disco.

Cheers Brian, I've heard a few interesting tales about Freelanders but the doors dropping off if you get it wet is a new one

I used to run Subaru Foresters but then the latest one wasn't to my liking; too big and too Americanised (probably due to America being their largest market I do believe) and they're not half the vehicle the predecessors were so, I got myself an Octavia vRS diesel which is a fantastic car but I miss the height and getting myself out is a wee bit of a struggle sometimes.
