Heavy Duty Suspension problem

That helped me a lot to make up my mind. I'll just stick to Pro-Comps then and just get then changed and everything should be fine. Thanks a lot, nice to hear that someone else has got it and it works fine.

Not the best time to mention it's not a 'standard UK' vehicle .. if you're putting the springs on correctly for a rt hand drive then obviously they'll be wrong ...

When you ordered the springs did you say left hand drive?

Landrovers are not a well balanced vehicle and the spring rates can be mixed and matched to accommodate this, as well as fore and aft.

Finally got round to it and swapped the rear shocks for new ones and it's much better. Doesn't bottom like it used to.

However the Procomps are really soft when going over bumps and the car still goes quite low when passengers are in it so will get heavier, better shocks for the rear now that i know the shocks are the issue.

Any recomendation for really tough shocks? I've seen Big Bore Terrafirma shocks that seem to be the answer...

That's proper heavy expedition type shocks, I've got 110 rear shocks on mine, get an 1" extra travel and they seem stiffer than disco ones

Well the thing is i regularly (at least once a week), have approx 600+ Kg of weight in the car, mixture of people and luggage, and want to have a nice ride when that is the case.

The spring rating on the rear are 255lbs, which seems like plenty, but the car sinks down nearly all the way to the bump stops when i have the load in the car. I just want bigger better shocks so that the car doesn't feel the effects of such weight.

can you post a pic of your shocks, and springs ? just open a photobucket account , and upload... this is a strange problem you got ..... procomp shocks must be the most common shock sold , and this problem , is not normally found..

It sounds like the springs are the problem, bigger shocks won't make any difference to it bottoming out when loaded.

It is the springs, you need even heavier duty springs AKA extra heavy duty springs.

Get some bearmach blues on the back. They will take anything you chuck at them. You can find them around the 50 pound a pair mark.

The springs i've got on the back are Bearmach Blues, 255lbs rating so that's why i don't get it, i took them to be tested at a garage and they said they were fine. The shocks i've got on there are the second pair of pro-comps i've had on as the first pair were dodgy and didn't support the car properly, the rate of descent was far too quick, and bottomed.
Now it doesn't bottom (although still have to slow down on speed bumps) if i'm on my own in the car but when it's loaded the rear just sinks down and nearly rests on the bump stops.

I had a spair pair of bearmach blues at 196lbs which i swapped at one point to see if it made a difference (i.e to see if the springs were dodgy), but that only made things worse.

Lost at what to do now...
