Hi all,

I found some play in the ball joints, so decided to replace them. I use the car heavily off road at times so I decided to bite the bullet and put HD arms on.

I got the set and I am very pleased with them. after taking the rear protector off I fount that one of the bars had been rubbing against it (see pic). Do I need to do anything? What worries me is the OD of the new bar is larger than the old bar, so I guess the problem will get worse! Or can I just stick it back together?

Old bar was bent and that's why it rubbed most likely. HD ones far less likely to bend, so shouldn't rub, all things being equal.

That said, with HD arms you probably don't 'need' it though.

I have a standard steering bar and run without the bracket and have had no problems even off road.
That's simply luck and/or not spending much time off road. They really don't need much to bend them. Even the PAS can bend them if you are in ruts and jam the wheel against the ground. But rocks and tree stumps will def do it.
