hi all not very good at fixin things but just got myself a k plated disco but the heaters appear not to be working ?? nor the illumination on the panel is there a known reason why ??? checked the fuses below the steeering wheel an appear to be fine ?? can anyone help ?? pls

For one or other i would say possibly a relay, but could be a plug off somewhere if both symptoms are connected.
Have you checked to see if theres a feed going into and out of both sides of fuse? That would narrow it down a bit, if theres power going through fuse on both ends, then start checking power is getting to appropriate plugs on dash and heater motor.

Is it the blower fan or the fact there is no heat?

The 200tdi run very cold due to a lower rated thermostat.

The lights could be just a set of blown bulbs.

cheers both .. cant hear fan start think need to take good look at it weekend if the snow stops !!

no heat can mean low water in the cooling system...just a thought but have you checked it...you are not specific about what in the heater is not working.

I am having the same problem most of the lights behind the dask are not working and believe this is the bulbs, but the heater is something else the car warms up ok but is intermitant on allowing the heat through to the passenger compartment and have seen the temp gauge go through the roof but wasn't overheating the fan is temprimental if I move the fan speed control around it can catch it right and it'll start blowing. same as you looks like the dash has to come out to change the bulbs so will look at the fan switch slide, think the heating is down to one of the relays behind the panal in the passanger foot well. One for the radio and cigar lighter went down there before.

if it is the heater motor seized ive been told one out of a montego should work ?? is that right ??

cheers yella . . . shall i just bring it up to u to fix ?? lol . . havin a look tomoz hk got a few disco's in so should be lucky. feckin need heat its freezin !!! but there again it is march in north wales what do we expect !!! so where abouts u at ??

Scrap the mats, just got them
Do need a dog guard and rear step though.

Oh, and if you are out of look on the heater, there is a full assembly on ebay for a 200 series.

£22.49 including postage. They are proper tailored ones, brand new. Not rubber though, the thick type with a backing of bitumen.

Im actually doing ok on Ebay at the moment, got a rear load cover for a tenner, mint. Just a few other bits and bobs and my Disco is up to scratch.
