Hi all,

When I press the the button on the dash for the heated windscreen, it lights up and all the wires are attached, but nothing happens.

Are there any common faults the stop the heated screen from working ?

:crazy_driver:

You haven't had it replaced recently have you? I had mine done on my Connect van and the dickheads put a regular windscreen in there (should have noticed the wavys lines were missing in there). Didn't twig until winter and then had to pay for it to be done again.

Heated screen switch signals to the BCU, the BCU puts the indicator light on and operates the relay (relay R206) in the Engine Compartment fuse box.
Two 40 Amp fuses (fuse 7 and fuse 8), one for the right hand side and the other for the left hand side of the screen.

I had similar issues and this is what i did;

tested the connections for volts on the connector before the windscreen - make sure engine is running and the switch is on, mine measured about 14.5 v

I then tested the continuity of the screen. This showed that my drivers side was totally dead and the passenger side was ok.

I would start with these and then work back towards the fuse/relays etc.

I started to do the electrical testing on the windscreen conectors, When I pulled the the two parts apart the windscreen side came away in my hand, they had been cut. The other side was the same.

Looks like it must have been changed at some point with the wrong type. If I get a new windscreen will it have the connectors on, or do I need a new ones?

thanks

I think the wire has been cut off the old screen,

yes! new screen has the connections on! your ok! but not ok! if you know what i mean, these pot holes nowadays are that deep they can crack a windscreen!!;)

I'd just like to jump in and thank Brian47 about the fuse advice - I shall be checking mine in the morning (if the rain ever stops) as well as cleaning the connector.

I currently have half a heated windscreen - at least its the drivers half.
