Freelander 1 Heated seats

Can someone knowledgeable tell me if early FL1 are wired for heated seats? I’ve found an ‘03 V6 being parted out. It’s has very nice leather seats and heated too. Maybe they would be an easy fit in my 1998 FL1?

Anything can be retrofited if there's enough drive to do so.
From memory the heated seat switches on the early vehicles were fitted where the window switches were, the window switches being relocated to the centre console.
So yes it's possible, but you'll need to do some wiring to link everything up.

Ok. I’ll have a gander at the wiring schematic to see if my loom has connections behind the centre consol. I’ve already fitted the armrest box from a later model so I could fit those heated seat switches there - I already moved the window switches there and the upper two could be for the seats. like you said will need to extend the loom to that place. What would people expect to pay for the entire interior: seats, door cards, hood lining… ?

In the UK, a full Freelander interior would be in the order of £250 - £500, the exact price depends on condition and material the seats are covered in.
The roof lining can be repaired on a DIY basis, as the foam inter-layer will have started crumbling by now.
The covering material isn't expensive though, so that's the way to go there.

OK - I arranged to buy the leather seats about £100 + some extra for the heated seat switches the luggage area lamp. My FL1 is a '98 model so heated seats weren't on offer for it. Now some questions:
Do these seats have different levels of heating [eg: 1,2 or 3]].
Are the wiring schematics online? I found a mention of the 2001 onwards cars having a fuse position [F29] and a relay by the fuse board.
I'll have to rig up my own power source, do I require a relay for each seat?
And is there a spare fuse position that would be suitable - 25amp?

The pre-2001 FL1 could be ordered with seat heating, my own 50th anniversary FL1 had heated leather seats as standard, which was also a 98 model.
They are simple stage heated seats, nothing complicated like 2 stages.
From memory the seats have their own relays (actually under the seats) to control the heater pads, and I think there's a thermostat in the seats too, as I could hear the relay clicking on and off, presumably under the control of the thermostat.
I believe the later wiring will be the same, so a diagram of a 2001 wiring will be suitable.
The seats take a high current supply from the interior fuse box, which powers the heater relays on the seats. The relays are then controlled by the switches on the console by the ashtray, but this is only a trigger supply, so doesn't need to be a heavy cable.
The wiring diagram gives cable sizes for reference.

Are those heated seat modules the relays you refer to?
