Hi all,
Freelander 1 TD4 54 plated.
Had an issue with the heated front windscreen. Stopped working around a month back, check the 3 fuses (small supplementary fuse box next to the battery) but they are ok. Changed the switch & that seems not to be the problem. Now I have a relay from the main dealer Tyco YWB 100 12 but don't know where it goes. The main fuse box under the steering wheel & the supplementary fuse box in the bonnet have relays but don't match. Any help to locate the relay please. Or any idea as what could be the problem be?

The relay goes in the small box on the ns looks like two small black boxes stacked together with t aped wires coming out of the bottom , one will have fuses in and the other will have a relay in. Check the base or the relay as mine was melted in solid.

Do you mean the two small boxed, one with 3 fuses & one similar size next to it? Well I couldn't open the one with relay, one with the fuse was opened & checked.

Found it, thanks. Yes, it is the small box you mentioned. The housing is indeed melted & needs replacing. Hope I will be able to do it on my own.

I just drilled through the melted bits and put crimp connectors on the bottom of the new relay bit of silicone to seal the bottom and taped back up the loom I undone to give me space to cut back to good wire and crimp .

Yes I cut mine as close to the holder as possible first ( bit of tape for identification to where each one goes) drilled out the burnt terminals big enough for the crimps to go through ( I used uninsulated terminals) stripped tape back, checked wire was nice and clean crimped and pushed them onto the relay from underneath , bit of silicone sealer under there too. When dry taped up the loom. Not sure if any of the wires are live when engine is off and keys removed so be careful. Prob best to disconnect battery if not sure first.
Edit
Worth checking the connections to the wires from the window they are located by removing the window wipers and removing the trim. Found mine had melted where the nice window filler had just twisted the wires together and put a bit of tape round them
