Heard this before??

I think most of the guys would agree that the 110 has more than TWICE the useful space of a 90.

Basically, the 110 has space.

As for the whole issue of seats in the back, that's another thing altogether. My 110 would be less useful than a 90 if it had seats in the back, it's got 3 in the front and if I need to occasionally carry more people they can slum it in the back with the dog. If I needed 5/7 seats more than load space I'd probably buy a disco

I have just been in a similar position to this, on an identical budget and ended up going for a 90 TD5 because:

1) I will be using it for a daily drive as well as for playing and the 90 offered the best of both worlds in my eyes.

2) 110's seemed like rocking horse dung to come by, especially in decent condition

3) I tried driving both the TD5 and the 300tdi and found the TD5 punchier, and quieter too.

4) I won't have a lot of time to work on the vehicle anyway due to work commitments so wasn't too fussed about the computers et c - the chances are it would have to go in to a dealer to be fixed regardless of the engine type.

5) Despite some comments on here there are lots of TD5 on the road and as an engine it seemed to get a good review in a recent magazine article (cant remember the reference off the top of my head).

6) While a land rover engine will go on for ages, there is no escaping the fact that the newest 300s are approaching ten years old now.

I'm sure I've opened myself up for a flaming here but there we go. I'll let you know how I get on once I pick up my vehicle next Sunday. Cant wait!

I bought my 110 from Liveridge 4x4,they seem very good,offer a good warrenty and have plenty of choice.The only problems I can see is that they are probebly too busy,can't give you enough of their time once you have bought the vehicle but try hard to help.

if you don't have enough time to work on your vehicle then why buy a Landy?

For all the other benefits really. Fun to drive, practical, durable, 'go-anywhere' capabilities. I'll be doing the basics myself and hopefully learning as I go along, but for the time being time will be limited

Im also considering doing some expeditions in the summer, like the ones i see advertised in Landrover magazines. I suppose a mint 300tdi would be better suited for this also because of the td5 electrics?

Personally I prefer 110, as it is less hassle putting stuff in, but a roofrack shoudl take care of rods etc. I would suggest you drive a 300Tdi and a TD5 (with the same tyres)on the same piece of road that you use for commuting and compare the noise levels.

Anyway If I were going fishing, I'd use a boat, so make sure you get some decent MTs and a snorkel!
