Well just had a look at my lights and the OF side are working OK,it seems that the NS are the problem, it both are on did then no problems but as soon as I flick main beam on the NS light goes out, not even dip is working so by the looks of things I have a crossed wire some where between the lights. So I'll make up a set of wires and have a play with the connection on the NS to see if I can work out the wire sequence.
 
The worst lights are HID where dipped hem is merely a shutter that drops over the light source. When you go over a bump, crest of a hill etc, oncoming drivers are looking directly at the arc. Sure they self level, but not quick enough, which is why some cars look like they are flashing you
Very true that's why I ditched them for LED type.
 
A bit off the topic but I thought I would mention that any auxiliary driving lights mounted above the windshield have to be covered and only used off road. A couple of Defenders in my club got $119 Cdn tickets for that. What is the Reg in the UK?

I don't think they have to be covered, at least I've never seen any covered but you're not supposed to use them on the roads. @gold rover would probably know for sure.
 
You see plenty of trucks with aux lights above the screen in UK. Think it's ok so long as they work on the dip switch and can be isolated
Regards all types of lights on trucks in the UK, including blue lights, green lights, and others, the response by traffic officers, to myself, was " we don't have enough people to deal with them. So they get away with it".
In the mean time , on the slightest rise in the road other drivers are blinded, because the lights hit us before truck drivers see us
