Headlight issues

Want to see if anyones had this same issue or might know what i should check first. the last coulple time I've driven my car i've notice a new quirk. when i go to turn my lights on at first only the side lights and the really dim little bulb in the head lamp will come on as if the switch was set to the middle position the main beam wont come until after I've driven for a few minuets then the head lights will burst into life. Before they come on I can flash the high beam but if i toggle the high beam its does nothing.

Maybe corrosion in the headlamp connections. So to start with unplugging the bulb/s and check your getting the full battery voltage at that your connection in the various switch positions
