You are unlikely to get pulled over once away from the port. You can find out where to put them by trail and error at night with the dip beam on, you just have to blank the spike of light that goes up on the left. Where are you headed? Do I need to reserve the recovery trailer?

Well, it's passed the CT 4 times now with UK headlights, 5th time coming up in JuneDatatek knows the magic of bulb twiddling!
You can rotate the bulbs with a small mod which flips the beam.
If you look at the back of the headlight where the bulb mounts, there are 3 slots where the tangs of the bulb locate. two of the slots are wider then the tangs, only the top slot is a close fit. If you bend the top tang back, the bulb can be rotated in the wide slots to the LHD position. With a small downward adjustment of the nearside headlight they are fine for Europe.
