Question: When fitting the MLS HG to a K series 1.8 motor do you need to fit the head saver shim that comes with the kit? The kit instructions indicate so.
I have and don't see it as a problem normally. However, on my last project I had the valves unshrouded which would have lowered the comp' ratio as it added a small void into each cylinder. The head was skimmed which would have raised the comp' ratio again. Under normal circumstances the head skim with the head saver shim helps to correct any discrepancy. But with my project have I effectively lowered the comp ratio again?
