err, let us know just what engine you have would be helpful,
as if its a gaylander, its the gaylander section you should be aiming at..

being an ex mechanic (ok, race engine builder and racer)
your point of new water pump has my suspicions aroused as to why, then linking it with your apparent gaskit failure...

not sure which engine make i have.all i know is its a freelander 1.8 2005 reg.i'll check..but i bought this car from a friend who looked after it really well. He bought his dream sports car..lol..so i purchased this from him as i knew how it had been looked after. He took it to have the gasket changed about a month before i had it but the garage told him that the gasket was fine..it was the water pump had gone and needed changing. He had all the work done and it has been fine..i only had it serviced 3 months ago and everything was fine. I only noticed a problem when i had to keep topping up the coolant and when ive checked the oil, it is a white milky color which i know is a gasket problem.

you best pop over to the freelander section with your engine symptoms mate, as i`ll think you`ll find more of the same type of engine have had simular problems..
