Syrup, I like your logic. I'm going to start posting nice things :)

Ormus, diesels do seem ok but they sound like a bucket of bolts. The V6 sounds sweet.........when it's running ;)

aye thats true, but id rather have the bucket of bolts than a really really quiet but hot v6.

Must admit i did not know there was issues with the v6 head gaskets ,just thought it was a 1.8 early problem, but on reading your links starting to change my mind a bit, always thought the v6 was the dogs and the one to get,i know these type of forums bring in the sob storys or people looking for help,so it would be nice to get some expert advice on the stats on this one ,maybe the tiga can drop a line. . . the really real ming:)

Well so far, in only 24 hours, we have 2 confirmed cases of head gasket failure on the V6 power plant. This can only mean 1 of 2 things:

1) Only 2 people in the World have had V6 head gasket failures, me being 1 of them.

2) Only 2 people in the world who have had V6 head gasket failures read this forum.

After much thought on this matter I'm going with option 1 ;)

Oh yeah, Ormus, you're so right. I think I'd much rather have a diesel that makes a noise rather than a hot sounding, strangely quiet V6.

Well i will stand up, my used to drink water like a fish, and there was plenty of steam out of the exhaust constantly, however the garage on 7 occaisons claimed the engine was fine,

A friend checked it for me and straight away said "Got to be 1 of the head gaskets, i'd sell it!"

That's three cases then,

If some one has got time check out the forums for the MG-ZS this has the same 170bhp 2.5 KV6 engine, do they have any horror stories, and also Mazda bought short KV6 engines for their cars do they fail?

Any way you can't buy a V6 any more because Rover have gone bust and no-one makes engines and the repair costs were horrific!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but if some-one asks for my opinion on which Freelander to buy it will only be one thing,

If you do it yourself you'll need to buy new head bolts too. I was advised this is a must.
I'm waiting for a quote to change my head gaskets from a local garage I use. I'll let you know my findings.
£527.70 just for the gaskets seems very expensive to me. I'd go with the £35 ones, middle of the road price. Hang on, that's not middle, it's bloody cheap ;)

have you got the quote on the bolt?
here in oz it cost $60 each for the bolt and $150 for 1 head gasket plus $1200 labour (local garage).
can anyone do the math for me?

All I have is the quote to do the job, £1200 I'm paying. The guy used to be a land rover mechanic so I'm assuming he knows what to do. Assume, makes an ass out of u and me.

Seriously, I will give a free sample to anyone who has a good enough reason for one! If you can sell or review the product email me some contact details and why you should get some. I was a sceptic untill I tried the product myself! Women buy the most bottles and save the most money because they do not have the silly pre-conceived ideas us men have!
Have a look at our testimonials at http://www.ksealit.com did anyone read the article in landrover world?

would that be the silly pre-conceived ideas that people that have to resort to spamming internet forums to sell their crap are generally talking a load of old bollocks.

I agree with you if I was posting info about car covers in a head gasket discussion but the product is relevant and I know it works. Let me know the next time you have a head gasket problem or symtom like over heating or a coolant leak and I will send you a bottle for free and see if facts can shush the mouth of ignorance.

oh yes please!!! send me some snake oil and while i'm at it i'll put some on me bunions.. would that be the same miracle **** i tried in me jag when thehg went in that??
the same miracle **** that didn't do nowt fer the hg but did block up the heater matrix?
the same miracle **** that others have tried and told me before hand it wur bollocks?
the same miracle **** that works about as well as pirate wiff no eyes?

I doubt very much it was k-seal! Search on the net see the positive reviews out there. Any way this seems to be getting very play ground, i offered you free product to try it, if you do not want to thats cool, if anyone has any serious questions I will be happy to answer them, I am reasonably qualified to do so, I have been a landrover mechanic for over 10 years in my time.
