Fit the freeby body on a V8 Disco Chassis - best of both worlds then :)

Nice idea, but I'm never gonna do anything like that. Maybe a project for Will and DD to look at. I'm dead set now on a Bavarian 6 pot as my next motor. Perhaps come back to a later Disco along the road!:)

Blargh no, never going to do a Disco-Lander :puke:. Naff as fook even if done reasonably well IMHO.

Well if my ship comes in the I'll try the turbo conversion with a rebuilt turbo engine, if not then I'll rebuild a normal 1.8 to ptu in.

I honestly just think this engine is guffed and was so from day one - why the hell else woud it have had 9 owners? It's blatantly a lemon.

I guess the 9 owners thing was a clue but then hind site is perfect. I wonder why mine has been ok - perhaps best not to question too much:)

To be fair, I didn't pay a peanut for it - the last ownder just said get it running and you can drive it away. So I did.

If I'd acually paid MONEY for it then I would have comitted seppuku long ago!!

I thought you didn't like complicated? The BMW strait 6 is more complex than anything that was fitted to a Freelander including the V6 ;) It doesn't even have a throttle cable as it's a "Drive By Wire" system with a servo actuated throttle body!!

This would be the best avenue if you plan to keep her long term ;)

I stand by that - but, and this is a bit mid life crisis, I do fancy something flash and fast now I can do the Saga insurance. Mine, wifey and my Brothers experience of German cars is all good. He has a poorly maintained (by his own admission) V6 Audi that still goes like clappers and a mate has an immac Merc 320 Kompressor (I think it is) very nippy indeed. So my only excuse for this madness is that they don't seem to go wrong!! I been lucky with my FL compared to others, hope to be lucky again.

....and you do see some fantastically well kept ones for sale around 5G. All service stamps present and correct from BMW bla bla!!:)

Oh well, no so bad then - mine cost me 2,200 and I've prob spent 1500, maybe slightly more over 5 years.

If you like fast then the strait six BMW takes some beating!! Before moving down here I had pretty much full time use of my bosses company car which was an M3 Evolution. That was one very quick car. The only thing I didn't like was the sound of the engine, it was to busy sounding but other than that it was a cracking performer!!

Ah, now, the M3 is a blinding car by any measure - maybe a bit too hot for me. I fancy a very clean 328/330 with full service and a warranty and they are available. as said missed one last week. 80k 2 owners, full service history, leather, years warranty and from a BMW specialist with a great rep. Cheapest car he had for sale at £3300. Bugger, should have just bought it!!:(

I love my ZS180 as it's a very good all rounder. It holds the road like it's on rails, has superb feedback through the steering, excellent brakes and a lovelly bit of power to give it a good shove forward but compared to the M3 it's slow. The MG would out handle an M3 on a race track but there is such a difference in power the M3 would walk all over the 180!!
