All,

My ongoing issues with the HDC seem to have now been joined by the TC light today.
Both came on brake below 30mph down hill.

The wires are all fine under the gear stick cover.

Now I don't have the three amigos and my rear lights are still working as is the handbrake light.
Car is breaking OK as far as I can tell.

Using good old google, I found an old post on here that its likely the foot brake pedal switch is on the way out!

View advice? my basic code reader is not picking up any fault codes.

Is this worth changing or should I look elsewhere? ABS sensor?

When it happens... If yer switch oft and restart the engine... Do the fault lamps go out?

Does putting yer foot ont brake pedal trigger it?

The hdc switch ont gear lever is open circuit when the hdc option is oft, so it won't cause the problem if the wire falls oft as it will just think yer dun't need it on as it's still seen as open circuit. As long as the wires dun't touch anything else electrical or connected to ground (bodywork).

And change yer "dream land rover" to Freelander. It's no wonder yer freelander's upset.

The brake switch is cheap as chips and a 2 minute job to fit so this is your first option, even if the brake lights are operating as normal.

The HDC use to go out when I stopped and restarted the engine.
It was random when it came on.
Since the TC has come on yesterday with the HDC when I was braking at a slow speed on a downwards incline, they are both still there after restarting the engine twice.

Will try the brake switch just to rule that out.

Thanks both.

You definitely need to get the codes read. I've just checked the fault light table, which suggests the ABS warning light should also be on with either of those lights.

I had the same problem with mine when we had the snow had the three amigos once then just the two lights on after tc and hdc, no damaged wires or loose connections, they where on and off for 3 weeks or so and never been back since so I just put it down to water/damp getting into something. Will be keeping an eye on this thread in case mine comes on again.Good luck

I've had the 3 Amigos as couple of times. They are stubborn little *** and when they turn up, you have no option but to fight them.

I've seen the 2 Amigos only once, and agree, they were more opportunistic little cowards. They showed up when I was stuck on a gravel bank and being recovered. One had gone by the time we got off the river bed, the other only a few Ks later.

Mine came on when I got stuck as well!! Bloody snow drift came out of know where I wonder if it’s spinning the wheels or damp that caused it.I had a quick google there’s a few others on different forums had them in snow.

You might have something there, my wheels were spinning like crazy (well the front ones anyway ) - it all probably got hot and bothered down there, maybe as it cooled down it sucked in some moisture from the gravel and sand I was stuck on, then it evaporated once I was moving again.

It's more likely to be something related to the ABS modulator. When TC or HDC is on, the booster pump motor and valves are working overtime so must heat up.
